There is NO ROMANCE in this book which is quite refreshing because some fantasy books would have high stakes and having a romance plot line just conflicts with the main action of the story.
Magic system was very easy to follow along with and understand. The plot built up the world quite nicely as an introduction to the whole series and the ending
leaves you with just enough questions to want to read more.
I thought the diversity in this book was nicely done. There’s characters you usually don’t see in novels and it was really nice to see these groups of people be represented in a book!
